FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) Presentation
August 13 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Learn how to avoid becoming a victim of an Internet-enabled crime
August 13, 2019 6:30-8:00 Westwood Community Church 6301 Cecilia Circle Bloomington, MN 55439
The statistics gathered by the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) for 2018 show Internet-enabled theft, fraud, and exploitation remain pervasive and were responsible for a staggering $2.7 billion in financial losses in 2018. You and your guests are invited to an informative evening with IC3 Unit Chief Donna Gregory from FBI Headquarters. She will discuss the value of IC3, the significant scams/frauds affecting our communities, specific internet-facilitated criminal activity trends in Minnesota, and reporting internet-facilitated criminal activity to IC3.gov.
The IC3 was created in 2000 to provide the public with a reliable and convenient reporting mechanism to submit information to the FBI concerning suspected Internet-facilitated criminal activity and to develop effective alliances with industry partners. IC3 now receives an average of 900 complaints every day. Victims can be anyone who uses a device that connects to the Internet, but 2018 figures show a concentration of victims and financial losses from individuals age 50 and older. Join us for this presentation – awareness is a powerful tool to prevent becoming a victim.
Guests are welcome to attend and no registration is required. While there is seating available for 350 people, please plan to arrive in enough time to ensure that you have a seat and the presentation can start promptly.
